After being forced to evacuate their homes, the Abdallah and Ghanem families sought refuge at a nearby UN base but were turned away.

As they fled, their convoy was attacked by an Israeli gunboat and an Israeli helicopter gunship, killing 23.

Among the victims were 15 children and a 7-month pregnant woman.
